Academic Programme: B.A. with History (Pass Course)

Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) with History is an Undergraduate program offered by our college is open for those students who have successfully qualified 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board or university. The program is divided into three years and in each year a student has to learn different aspects of Indian and world history. The program is designed in such a way that the study of history moves from general to specific encompassing all phases of Indian and World history.


Program Objectives:

  • To acquaint students with the past and present of India and the World.
  • Impart a critical understanding of Indian society, economy, polity, and culture through a historical perspective
  • To prepare students for a range of careers
  • To stimulate intellectual curiosity and research attitude in the students
  • To introduce the various Indian and foreign traditions of history writing

Programme Learning Outcomes:

Graduates of this department are expected to explain how and why important events happen throughout the history of mankind. After graduating with History as pass course, they will be able to demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of different aspects of the history of India and world. This will establish a platform from which the student can pursue their higher studies in History.

After completing the undergraduate programme in History, the student is expected to:

  • Construct historical narratives and describe significant developments within the historical contexts, covered in the syllabus
  • Identify and analyse the significance of historical changes that take place within a society or culture
  • Understand the different historical methods of studying History
  • A clear understanding of evidence collected from historical sources
  • Understand the developments in Indian and world historiography
  • Informed familiarity with multiple cultures and diversity
  • Awareness of current historical debates
