EXPECTED OUTCOMES OF THE PROGRAMME:
1. Basic Competencies/Skills (Communication Skills):
The aim of the programme is to focus on the four basic language competencies – listening, speaking, reading
and writing. By focusing on these basic competencies, students will be able to:
- Listen effectively to understand and learn the English language.
- Understand and speak the language fluently with correct accent and pronunciation.
- Read, comprehend and use written material in English including graphs, charts and displays.
- Write effectively in the English language for personal and professional purposes.
2. Cognitive Skills:
The focus of the entire Programme is to enable a holistic development of the students by providing them a
series of academic experiences to
promote their growth.
Following cognitive skills are expected to be acquired by the students:
- Act logically to evaluate situations, solve problems and take decisions.
- Develop novelty, creativity, critical and analytical thinking along with academic excellence.
- Access to and apply specialized knowledge from the field of literature.
- Developing interest in linguistic and aesthetic aspects of the language.
- Enhancement of vision through exposure to diverse cultures,traditions and literary creations .
3. PERSONAL MANAGEMENT SKILLS:
These skills define our relationship with others, and how we approach our life and work. On completion of
the Programme, the students will be able to acquire and demonstrate:
- Positive attitude and behavior.
- High self-esteem and confidence.
- Honesty, integrity and personal ethics.
- Initiative, energy and persistence.
- Ability to set goals and priorities in work and personal life.
- The ability to plan and manage time, money and other resources to achieve goals, and accountability for
actions taken.

- Recognition and respect for diversity and individual differences.
- The ability to identify and suggest new ideas to get the job done creatively.
Team work skills:

EXPECTED PROGRAMME SPECIFIC OUTCOMES:
At the end of the Programme, the students are expected to:
- Understand critical ideas, values and themes that appear in the literary texts and how they bear
relationship to various contents.
- Understand how the entire range of human experience is communicated through literary representation.
Familiarity with wide range of themes and issues concerning life, like, globalization, human rights,
gender, caste-class divide, environmental protection etc. will shape them into socially responsible
citizens as they will gain perspective rights into these issues and use their critical and analytical
faculties in solving these issues. Develop their professional abilities to enhance their employment
opportunities.
